Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande at Red Carpet Event Barred from Singapore

A man from Australia that leaped past a barrier and reached for Hollywood star Ariana Grande has been sent away and prohibited from Singapore.

The individual, 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in detention for causing a public disturbance and has now been "banned from entering the country again," Singaporean immigration authorities told news outlets.

The man shoved beyond security and approached aggressively the actress and singer, who was present at the regional launch for the musical adaptation on November 13. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

The individual has a record of disrupting concerts and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.

The event provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with numerous people accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.

The celebrity has discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist bombing at her show in Manchester in spring of 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.

Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had tried to gain access on the film's premiere twice, according to regional reports.

He then made a another effort to cross the barriers. Event security prevented him and pinned him down.

He then uploaded video clips expressing gratitude to the star for allowing his presence and said he was "free."

Police took him into custody the subsequent day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Presiding Judge the judicial official was referenced by a news outlet as saying that the man sought attention, adding that he was mistaken to assume he would not face any penalties.

The singer has not addressed the case.

Erivo spoke about the event to the press, stating that she "just wanted to make sure my colleague was safe."

"I believe he had no intention to us harm, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I aimed to make sure that she was fine. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
