'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Loved Ones of Unaccounted For Young People Desperately Seek News After Alpine Fire

The loved ones of teens missing after a devastating fire at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are confronting an excruciating period of uncertainty for answers and pleading for clues about their family members publicly.

The blaze devastated the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated video depict the ceiling igniting as bottles with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Authorities have indicated that it could take considerable time to formally name the those who perished of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 40 people and wounded another over a hundred. Officials said on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts ongoing to locate the remaining few.

In the meantime, loved ones have been posting on the internet to appeal for clues about their loved ones who were in attendance that fateful night.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, 16, are not yet determined, according to an heartfelt request from his family.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, informed a publication that she had returned to the city to see if he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but could not find him.

"I'm living a nightmare, a nightmare. Either I find my son in the morgue, or I find him in critical condition. Words cannot describe it," she stated.

She added that some of his friends had been located with burns covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured hell."

The Italy's foreign ministry has said that a number of of its citizens are still unaccounted for.

Among them is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, who hailed from Italy but now living in Dubai.

The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is deceased, without mentioning the fire, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him passion and true sportsmanship."

His father, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An official spokesperson has indicated that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is also unaccounted for. His mother said that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and found himself at the bar.

"A companion said they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

One of his teachers said, "He was known for his good nature and positive demeanor, alongside great maturity. Often offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Greek and Swiss citizenship but lives full-time in Switzerland, was also present on that night, according to sources.

Her sibling has posted an urgent request on social media, saying the relatives has had "no updates" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Officials from her country of origin say they are closely watching the situation.
