Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
