Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for doubts to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is removed, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
